John has worked in the employee benefits arena for 40 + years. His career started in 1979 with Great-West Life, marketing self-funded group health plans to medium-sized groups from 100 to 1,000 employees. In 1982, he joined William M. Mercer, Inc. and rose to manage the Benefits division of Marsh & McLennan Group Associates – a sister company to Mercer. In 1986, he joined UNUM Insurance Company, specializing in health, dental, life and disability products offered to employers through a Cafeteria/Flexible menu approach. In 1988, John formed his own brokerage consulting company, Coastal Financial Group, which was rebranded as Edmonds Insurance Benefits, Inc. in 2014. EIB currently provides employee benefits, brokerage, and consulting services to various small, medium, and large sized employer groups.
